guest post : under a paper moon

To keep you entertained while I'm off galavanting with my buddies, I asked two fabulous bloggers to keep in the spirit and post about the wonderfulness of girlfriends.
First up is Courtney from Under A Paper Moon! Courtney and I met (in the blogging world) when I started this blog and has definitely turned into someone I consider a 'real life' friend. She is so thoughtful and genuine - and I can't wait until we can meet up and have coffee one afternoon!
...
I first wanted to thank ms.birdcage for asking me to guest blog here at Grace's Birdcage. I must say I'm honored as this, or should I say Grace's Birdcage Wedding, was one of the earliest wedding-related blogs I started reading when I was planning my own wedding two years ago. I've watched as it's transitioned from a blog revolving mainly around wedding planning to one filled with beautiful fashion and photos, and a constant along the way, why I was hooked from the start, has been the witty words peppered throughout the posts.

I also have to say friendship seemed a fitting topic to me, as ms.birdcage's is one I value greatly in the blogging world. One of my favorite quotes about friendship has long been--

"It is the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter" - Marlene Dietrich.
Those words speak of the fact that your truest friends are those who you can call in the middle of the night, knowing they will not mind if you have disturbed their sleep. Tired as they may be, they will still be there for you, even when it isn't necessarily convenient for them. I've always hoped my friends feel that quote applies to me, but being the night owl I am, surely they must! Perhaps to reflect the true nature of those words, my friends should apply "7 a.m." to the quote instead-- a morning person I am not!
.
Because ms.birdcage is somewhere warm and tropical, I wanted to leave you with these photos of girlfriends together at the beach, which seemed quite appropriate for this post celebrating friendship.
