the worst/best puzzle ever

.
other post titles contenders:
'why i've been a terrible blogger'
'i'm an interior designer?'
or
'sonofa'
.
A few weeks ago my husband and I decided to design our own home. This is also when I started ignoring Christmas, forgetting what day it was, stopped doing dishes, slacked at blogging etc etc.

Because turns out, even when you're an architect (husband) and an interior designer (me)? This is hard. Maybe harder for that very reason.

It is like doing the hardest puzzle you've ever done...knowing you'll have to live in that puzzle when its finished. If you walk into a wall its because your dumb ass drew it there.

At the same time, its a lot of fun. We love being able to add our nooks and bookshelves and weird things that will be there just because its our house. We're completely excited.

Our apartment counter/floor/furniture is covered in ripped sheets of trace with floorplans scrawled all over and 234 dull eraserless pencils. We've spent lunch hours, evenings and weekends trying option after option. Tonight we feel like we really landed on something - but because I said that when we get it in CAD tomorrow it will be a complete fail.

Thought about blogging about the process but there's no reason for all of you to bang your heads against the table with us. Maybe once we're moving forward?
.
Anyway, I hope we landed somewhere tonight. Because I need to acknowledge that the holidays are here, do some dishes, clean up the bonfirewaitingtohappen of trace littering our place, pay attention to a certain gray chubby cat whose been neglected - and get back to blogging of course.

I know the feeling about neglecting your other duties. Been so busy with holiday orders our house is destroyed, and I have a few more gifts to get. Yikes!

I think it's very hard to channel your creativity to yourself when it's usually for others. Regardless, how great will it be when you're sitting in the outcome of all your hard work!
