The revamped AMC Theatre is opening this weekend in downtown Kansas City and I'm jazzed. This theatre was built in the 1920s and at some point was left to the pigeons. Since I moved here its just been this sad building full of potential. I love that they restored everything on the exterior (although I'm guessing the giant LCD marque was not there) - even recreating the Main Street Theatre sign.
Things to love - leather seats, cocktails during your movie (from what I've heard), and a fabulous bar/restaurant open until 5am. Oh, and no one in under 21! take that babies..
I got to sneak in on Monday and take a quick wander around. The space is really well done. One of these shots is looking out the windows towards the Power & Light district.
Here's a photo of the exterior by KC photographer Eric Bowers (whose website, by the by, I am completely obsessing over).
