amc in downtown kansas city

The revamped AMC Theatre is opening this weekend in downtown Kansas City and I'm jazzed. This theatre was built in the 1920s and at some point was left to the pigeons. Since I moved here its just been this sad building full of potential. I love that they restored everything on the exterior (although I'm guessing the giant LCD marque was not there) - even recreating the Main Street Theatre sign.
Things to love - leather seats, cocktails during your movie (from what I've heard), and a fabulous bar/restaurant open until 5am. Oh, and no one in under 21! take that babies.
.
I got to sneak in on Monday and take a quick wander around. The space is really well done. One of these shots is looking out the windows towards the Power & Light district.
.
Here's a photo of the exterior by KC photographer Eric Bowers (whose website, by the by, I am completely obsessing over).

wow the theatre looks nice! Hahaha no one in under 21! When I went clubbing in Quebec I sware that they let 16 year old girls in to bars (legal age is 18). Now imagine them hitting on a typical mid 20's guy eeeek!

I love that they chose to rehab an old theatre building!! Truly awesome. And the inside sounds like it will be great too (got to love the no one under 21 bit... the last time E & I went to a movie on a Saturday night, the place was PACKED with middle schoolers! Nothing against them because I used to be one hanging out at the movies too, but we thought it would be less populated by that demographic during the 10 pm showings! Not so much.)
