the hoar frost

.
My Husband, Harlow and I trekked up to Northern Iowa over the weekend to visit family. It was so cold and snowy up there - but it was also eerily humid/foggy and the result was an amazing display of hoar frost. I've never seen anything like it. My brother and I spent a few hours wandering around in the woods - mixed in with a few stops to eat the fresh, clean snow (does anyone else do this? It has to be completely fresh and clean obviously - but this was the perfect texture, almost like little crispy, powdery ice chips.) My brother was also teaching me a few tricks on my new camera (my Christmas gift to myself after months and months of saving and camera research wootwoot!)
.
.
This is my sister's huge dog - the sweetest thing in the world (literally weighs 11 times what Harlow does!)
.
.
Harlow wore her coat when we went out to play in the snow - although she avoided the snow as much as she possibly could! The horses, on the other hand, were her new favorite thing.

Those pictures are amazing! I love the frost.

BTW, i haven't eaten snow in years, mostly because I live in an area haunted with dog poop and pee and I don't trust a single morsel of snow.
