en egg cream

When I was younger Harriet the Spy was one of my favorite books. I would read it over and over and over again. One detail I had completely forgotten about was one of her favorite treats, egg creams. I had no idea what they were. I hated eggs (still do) and this sounded like something egg-y so I'm pretty sure I was a little horrified at the thought.

Turns out it's a real thing. An egg cream. And it sounds delightful.

I just saw this through my twitter search on #recipe.

Funny, yes, the Egg Cream is real, and as you see, the two things it lacks - Egg & Cream.
Growing up in Brooklyn, NYC, we took this drink for granted, never gave it much thought, til recently.

Oh, I thought it did have egg whites in it. I had one a few months ago after hearing a lot of my east coast friends rave about it but I thought it was gross. I don't know if the one I had was traditional or not.
