southern weddings contest

I posted a few weeks ago about the fabulous contest they were having over at Southern Weddings. To design an inspiration board for Carrie Bradshaw's perfect wedding. Here are the finalists, they'll announce the winner on Monday. This was my entry...

"I think there's a balance between an over-the-top extravagant affair and the quiet courthouse. There is a close group of friends at a gorgeous restaurant with a view of the city they love. The best food and drinks are served. Everything is warm, elegant and intimate. And of course, there is a fabulous dress."

megan's wedding

My friend Sara's sister is getting married next fall. She's planning on a great color combination of black, white and gold. I think the gold is so gorgeous and rich - especially in the fall. Sara and I being the photoshop freaks that we are, decided to put together some inspiration boards for her. She sent the bride's dress that she liked - and we knew the colors and just went from there.

lilac board

I spent four years of college in a purple funk. I was obsessed with the color. My room looked like a grape. While I eventually got out of the purple thing, lilacs remain my favorite flower. I love the variation of purple shades and charming little blossoms. I've been slowly collecting purple images that I love and this morning I put them together. Its kind of an inspiration board but also just a little gathering.

I've been obsessed with blue lately. Like blue blue. A post over at stylemepretty today inspired me to create my own little blue board.

I always thought it would be really cool to base a wedding around colors from a peach. A big pile of peaches in a glass bowl with some Stephanotis blooms tucked in between for centerpieces? Bridesmaids dresses could be a combination of peach, warm purples and golds. There's such a variety of colors that all blend together so beautifully in a peach. And it would smell delicious! This isnt the most cohesive board, but I like the direction.

It's funny that with my own wedding days away, I'm creating inspiration boards for this imaginary wedding. Fabulous use of time:)

a board for the horse gal

I really, really enjoy making inspiration boards. This is one I've been working on a little bit at a time for a month or two now. I had my sister in the back of my mind while I make it, although that'd probably freak her out a little bit considering she isn't currently engaged. But she made the mistake of telling me she'd let me help plan the wedding someday:)

I do still picture her in one of those short Stephanie James dresses. On the tree farm, light and airy but with a little bit of English garden feel. You know, just in case the groom happens to be from England...

a board for rara

One of my closest friends has found some fabulous inspiration for her wedding. I love the stuff she's pulling together and I just couldn't help myself - I had to make an inspiration board. She's a graphic designer with a beautiful eye for color and a fun vintage style. I can't wait to see everything she does!

I've fallen in love with this color scheme lately - just so fresh and downright cute. Might be some ideas for the rehearsal dinner? (our location has a lot of exposed brick so I threw that in there).
